Spring programme is launched despite setback
The Cuming Museum in Southwark, London, launched its spring programme last month, despite the museum building being closed to the public following a fire in March.

Councillor Veronica Ward, Southwark Council’s cabinet member for culture, leisure and sports, said: “We have managed to find other venues while the museum is being repaired.

“It is really important that the programme takes place, in spite of the fire.

“Museum staff have worked tirelessly to put the programme together, and the events, which are free, offer something for everyone.”

Nobody was injured in the fire, but the blaze destroyed the museum’s roof and two of its displays.

It is believed that collections in storage may have also suffered water damage following attempts to control the blaze. Two of the Cuming Museum’s displays were destroyed by the fire
