The May edition of Museum Practice will examine the phenomenon of crowdfunding, the practice of funding projects or ventures through contributions from a large number of people.

Crowdfunding is tipped to be a growth area for arts and cultural organisations in 2015, according to a report published by the Digital R&D Fund for the Arts.

Museum Practice will look at recent examples of crowdfunding in the cultural sector, sharing lessons from successful and unsuccessful projects, identifying the opportunities as well as the pitfalls to avoid.

Cultural organisations are invited to share their own case studies of crowdfunding for projects big and small.

Case studies should be about 250 words and be accompanied by one or more photographs. For tips and advice, read this guide to writing a Museum Practice case study.

Please email your case studies by 24 April to
