The BL 5.5 inch Medium Gun was a key British artillery piece of WW2.
The Royal Artillery Museum has a number of these in the collection, and this one is now surplus to requirements.
No significant history can be traced for this specific gun. Please note that the gun has been outdoors for many years and is in poor condition. There is extensive corrosion, with the trail on one side completely split/detached. It would require significant restoration work to return it to display condition.
The gun will need to be collected from Norfolk by the end of December 2021.
Although this gun has been rendered inactive by welding the breech shut, it is not certified as decommissioned. A copy of the applicants Firearms Licence will therefore be required prior to collection.
Please notify me of your interest by 5pm on Friday 3 December 2021.
