Autoharp

The Horniman Museum and Gardens have identified an object for disposal via transfer from the Musical Instrument Collection. The object approved is a autoharp by Müller. The wooden body stained and varnished black. Thirty-three strings (eight missing). Twelve strings copper overwound, the rest steel. Eleven chords, the top row named 'A/c-dur/c-maj' 'B/g-dur/g-maj' 'C/d-dur/d-maj' E/h-dur/b-maj', the bottom row named 'F/g-sept/g-sept' 'G/d-sept/d-sept' 'H/a-sept/a-sept' 'I/a-moll/a-min' 'K/?-moll/?-min' 'L/?-moll/?-min'. The chords are sounded by means of push-button operated sprung wooden bars with felted dampers that silence the notes that are not required. chord stops are operated by eleven push buttons. Paper label attached to the side of the chord bar box 'Muller's/Autoharp/regis'd'.
Our aim is that transferred items remain in the public domain and we give priority to accredited museums who wish to acquire these items.
