Discover the practicalities and challenges of running a late programme as well as developing themes and programmes.

Lates are becoming an increasingly good way to help diversify the museum and gallery audiences and engage with non-traditional museum goers. Friday Late at the V&A celebrates all aspects of contemporary visual culture and design through live performance, film, installation, debate, DJs and late-night exhibition openings.

10.30 – 10.45 Welcome and Introductions

10.45 – 11.15 Introduction to the Friday Late Programme- Why run a Late? Its development over the years and what it looks like today

11.15-12.00 Devising content for a Late – Practical? How to work with Artists and Designers and how you get ideas and inspiration 

12.00- 13.00 Another Perspective: The Artist’s perspective What is it like working in a heritage building, what are the constraints and considerations?

13.00 – 14.00 Lunch (provided)

14.00 – 15.00 The Practicalities - Spaces what to consider? Go out into the spaces and set them a challenge- Give them a proposal and send them to different spaces

15.00 – 15.30 How to navigate the frictions between rules and innovation

15.30 – 16.00 Visitor Experience – Crowd control

16.00 – 16.30 Next Steps? Discussion and close
