Moving on Up is the essential conference for early career professionals who want to take control of their careers, develop their networks and be inspired to have an impact in the sector.

Now in its fifth year, Moving on Up is an opportunity to hear from inspirational speakers, network with peers and senior museum professionals, and participate in practical workshops and discussions.

Delegates attending the event will discover how to navigate the challenges of the current jobs market, how to raise their profile and how to ensure they are developing the necessary skills to benefit their future career progression.

He chairs Moving on Up 2018

David Anderson
Director General, Amgueddfa Cymru – National Museum Wales

After first working as a history teacher, David Anderson began his museum career as an educator at the Royal Pavilion and Museums, Brighton, before moving to the National Maritime Museum in Greenwich, and then the V&A, where he was Director of Learning and Interpretation until 2010. He joined Amgueddfa Cymru in 2010 and has overseen the transformation of St Fagans Museum to become the National Museum of History for Wales, and the development of new programmes and research on the role of museums in society, including initiatives to redress the impacts of poverty on children through cultural participation.
He gives a closing talk at Moving on Up 2018

Nikesh Shukla 
is a writer whose debut novel, Coconut Unlimited, was shortlisted for the Costa First Novel Award 2010 and longlisted for the Desmond Elliott Prize 2011. He is also the editor of the essay collection, The Good Immigrant, where 21 British writers of colour discuss race and immigration in the UK. He hosts The Subaltern podcast, an anti-panel discussion featuring conversations with writers about writing.
