Yorkshire AMA Support Group

Who are we?

The Yorkshire AMA Support Group is a forum for museum professionals working towards the attainment of the Associateship of the Museums Association (AMA).

We aim to:
 



  • provide an opportunity for those working towards the Associateship of the Museums Association to share experiences and network.


  • provide the opportunity to meet at scheduled times during the year and to arrange visits and speakers that will assist members in the AMA process.
The support group works closely with MLA Yorkshire, which offers advice and support to the candidates in the region.

What we get up to?

The AMA Support Group sets the agenda for the schedule of meetings which take the form of informal discussions on issues and topics on which delegates need guidance or that are relevant to their professional development.

The group meets quarterly, usually for a full day.

The meetings include a chance for a tour of the host museum and speakers from host museums also contribute to the day. This also gives delegates the chance to network.

Hello all,

Our next AMA support group meeting is pencilled in for Friday 8th April in Bradford. We will start at the National Media Museum for a tour of their collections, have a session on writing text for exhibitions, then our AMA meeting and finally a tour around the Hockney exhibition at Bradford 1 Gallery.

The next AMA network meeting will be Wednesday 23 June in Sheffield starting at Weston Park Museum and finishing at the Millennium Gallery (city centre).

The day will include, tours of exhibitions at Weston Park Museum, Graves Gallery and Millennium Gallery and talks from members of the learning, exhibitions and curatorial team.
