Deadline approaching for Smarter Loans feedback

Have your say on the MA's Smarter Loans consultation document before 17 September
As part of the Effective Collections programme, the MA is reviewing the key principles of loans within the UK.

Put together with support from the MA Ethics Committee and the Collections Strategy Group, the eleven draft principles are intended to act as a springboard for real culture change in the way that museums within the UK carry out their loan activity.

The MA is widely circulating the Smarter Loans consultation document and would like to hear your thoughts on the principles. Both organisations and individuals within the museum sector are invited to offer their support.

You can also indicate if you would like to take part in the MA’s work in developing the principles and creating practical guidance for the sector in the coming 1-2 years.

Effective Collections project assistant Vicky Kinahan said "We have already had some substantial and insightful responses to the Smarter Loans draft principles; and offers of support and involvement in taking this project forward, both from individuals involved in day-to-day loan activity, and from organisations interested on a more strategic level.

"By including responses and recommendations, the Smarter Loans principles have a real chance of engendering not just change at a theoretical level, but in practical terms, and we are really excited about the potential impact of this project."
