The Museums Association has just added another date for professional reviews of the Associateship of the Museums Association (AMA) following high demand from current participants.

The extra sessions will be on 3 February in Birmingham, following booked out sessions on 2 February and 8 March.

Charlotte Holmes, the MA’s museum development officer, said: “The professional review marks the final benchmark in the AMA, where perspective AMAs are asked to demonstrate how they have met all the conditions of the AMA.

"It’s a formal interview with two senior museums professionals and a representative from the Museums Association.

“Personally it’s a really inspirational part of my job. It’s great to see how much people have achieved over the last or 2 or 3 years and how the AMA has helped people to really transform their careers, growing in skills and confidence.

“Of course for participants it can be a bit nerve-wracking as it is the final and most important assessment point of the programme, and marks the culmination of lots of hard work.

“But the greatest benefit of the AMA is that it empowers individuals to take charge of the direction of their career, and to make sure that they are satisfied, motivated and pushing forward the boundaries, whatever their role.

“Many people are facing insecurity about their future, undertaking a professional development award such as the AMA helps people to deal with this kind of change on their own terms.”
