50 places at £128 for staff at small and medium-sized museums
The Museums Association (MA) is offering 50 subsidised places at £128 each for anyone working at a small or medium-sized museum that is also an institutional member of the MA at its annual conference and exhibition in Manchester.

The places, worth £495 at full price, include all sessions, receptions, workshops, refreshments, as well as lunch and evening events on all three days of the conference, which will take place at Manchester Central from 16-18 November. The offer does not include travel or accommodation.

The subsidised places will give small and medium-sized museums a fantastic chance to attend sessions covering a wide range of subjects including the role of community museums; the future of museum federations; making the best use of gallery assistants; using stores to engage visitors; and how subject specialist networks can support the sector.

This special MA conference offer is on a first-come-first-served basis to staff from museums that are members of the MA and have an annual operating budget of less than £313,000. Priority will be given to organisations that have not sent delegates before.

“We are delighted to offer these discounted places again this year as we know that they have really benefited staff from smaller museums, especially those that otherwise wouldn’t be able to afford to attend," said Will Adams, the MA’s head of commercial activities.

“This is a fantastic opportunity to meet and share ideas with colleagues from across the sector, learn about best practice, and hear the latest thinking from sector leaders.

"We would encourage anyone from small and medium-sized museums to consider this offer.”
