100% grants available ahead of international craft fair
The Art Fund is now accepting applications to its £75,000 Art Fund Collect scheme, which offers craft curators grants to acquire works at Collect 2012, the international craft exposition taking place at the Saatchi Gallery in May.

The annual fair is run by the Crafts Council and showcases museum-quality works by major contemporary artists and craftmakers.

The Art Fund scheme, which launched in 2008, aims to raise the profile of contemporary craft by enabling museums to compete with private collectors at the fair for significant works of applied and decorative art.

A shortlist of successful applicants will gain early access to the Collect 2012 fair ahead of VIP guests and the general public. Curators can select a single work for their museum’s collection during an hour-long exclusive viewing before the fair opens.

They will be asked to discuss their selection with the Art Fund Collect committee, which then decides who should win a share of the funding pot. 100% grants are available for significant works.

The deadline for entries to the Art Fund Collect scheme is 12pm on Wednesday 14 March.

Collect 2012 takes place at the Saatchi Gallery on 11-14 May and the early viewing for curators is on 10 May.
