MA calls for members to stand for new board

The MA wants talented, motivated and creative people to stand for its newly-constituted board
Vanessa Trevelyan, the MA's president, has written an open letter to MA members encouraging them to put themselves forward for election to the MA's board.
Board members will be expected to drive the strategic direction of the Museums Association, help shape the future of the museum sector, develop new policy and initiatives, and lobby government and advocate for all museums.
Trevelyan writes: "If you have a particular expertise you can offer, then I urge you to put yourself forward. Or if you know someone who has these skills, then please encourage them to stand."
The new board will consist of 12 members. Eight of these will be elected by the membership and four will be nominated members who bring skills and experience to help the MA achieve its purpose.
Elections will take place in February, with the new council in place on 1 April 2011.
Closing date for applications to stand is 5pm, Monday 31 January.
