MA to respond to Northern Ireland policy

Patrick Steel, 11.08.2010
The MA is calling on Northern Irish members to respond to the DCAL’s draft museum policy
The Department of Culture, Arts and Leisure’s (DCAL) draft policy focuses on five strategic priorities: developing audiences; education and learning; collections development, care, management and use; infrastructure, investment and resources; and cultural rights.

Caitlin Griffiths, the MA’s head of professional issues, said: “These are changing times for museums across the UK and having a strong vision for the provision of culture and heritage has never been more important.

”It is very encouraging that the DCAL is developing a policy for museums in Northern Ireland.

”It is essential that the final policy reflects the needs and aspirations of all museums in Northern Ireland, so we are calling on all our members in Northern Ireland to contribute their views to the MA's response to the current draft museums policy."
