Rosie Stanbury has been appointed head of public programmes at London’s Wellcome Collection. The role is a secondment to cover James Peto, while he is on research leave for 12 months.

Janice Murray, the director general of the National Army Museum in Chelsea, London, retires in October.

Sue Wilkinson has been appointed as a trustee of Historic Royal Palaces for three years from 1 August.

Sue Shave has left her post as director of Chiltern Open Air Museum to become the director of Buckinghamshire County Museum Trust.

Paul Kirkman, the director of the National Railway Museum in York, is stepping down.

Katy Barrett has begun her new job as the curator of art collections at the Science Museum, London. She previously worked at Royal Museums Greenwich.

Christopher Turner will join the Victoria and Albert Museum (V&A), London, in October as the keeper of design, architecture and digital. Turner is the director of the London Design Biennale.

The director of research and collections at the V&A, Bill Sherman, has been is to become the director of the Warburg Institute at the School of Advanced Study, a research organisation that is part of the University of London.

Deborah Marsland has been appointed as museums and galleries manager for Kirklees Council, which manages Oakwell Hall & Country Park, Tolson Museum, Bagshaw Museum and Huddersfield Art Gallery. She was previously museums operations manager for the service.

Janet Vitmayer will step down as chief executive of the Horniman Museum and Gardens in London in March 2018.
