What’s been good so far?
Meeting diverse people, from schoolchildren excited about mummification to detectorists who come to identify their finds. Also, spending time on the collection, from assessing the condition of manuscripts to hoovering a stuffed blackbird. I was touched by the everyday kindnesses I was shown after breaking my ankle. An unorthodox way to become a fully fledged new staff member, but having a temporary disability did provide a glimpse into museum accessibility.
