Expert discussion on how museums can ensure access to national collections for future generations
Watch an expert panel at the British Museum debate the future for curating national collections at the Arts and Humanities Research Council’s (AHRC) debate Curating the Nation, which took place last week.

The debate features an expert panel of cultural figures and curators including: Nick Merriman, the director of Manchester Museum; Richard Price, the head of contemporary British collections at the British Library; Kieran Long, the keeper of the department of design, architecture and digital at the Victoria and Albert Museum; and Hilary Roberts, the research curator of photography at Imperial War Museums.

The panel discusses how museums can ensure access to national collections for future generations and how cultural institutions should respond to changing regional and national identities within the UK.

The debate is chaired by Rebecca Bailey, the head of education and outreach at the Royal Commission on the Ancient and Historical Monuments of Scotland.

This debate is a collaboration between the AHRC, British Museum, Imperial War Museum and a number of independent research organisations and marks the 10th anniversary of the AHRC.
