DCMS representative moves to Scotland ahead of referendum

Staff member appointed to provide advice and support
A member of staff from the Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) is moving to the Scotland Office this week to provide on-the-ground advice and support to DCMS sectors in the run up to the referendum on Scottish independence on 18 September.

Wendy Shales, currently head of libraries at DCMS, will take on the Cabinet Office-funded role until the end of September.

In addition to providing support to DCMS arm’s length bodies on referendum issues as they arise, Shales will liaise with stakeholders and ministers from both nations on events such as the world war one commemorations, the Commonwealth Games and the second International Cultural Summit, which takes place in Edinburgh on 10-12 August 2014.
