Arts Council England (ACE) has announced three appointments to museums and libraries, which will start on 1 October this year.

Hedley Swain, currently director, programme delivery at MLA, will become director, museums & Renaissance; Charlotte Johns, currently Renaissance programme coordinator at MLA, will become director, museums & investment; and Nicola Morgan, currently programme manager, sector improvement at MLA, will become director, libraries.

Swain said that he had been working closely with ACE on Renaissance, but could not divulge details of the programme's future as "we are not at the next stage yet".

ACE is to create a total 53 new posts with the remaining roles announced over the summer.

According to Swain where there is a direct fit posts will be transferred straight from MLA to ACE, while new roles have to be pooled and competed for. Swain had to compete for his role, he said.

Alan Davey, chief executive of ACE, said: "We will be recruiting to further museums and libraries related new roles during July and further announcements of appointments to ACE and the final integrated structure will be made in due course."
