Museum jobs: exhibitions officer
Exhibition specialists organise, set up and sometimes buy in exhibitions to the museum or gallery. The job can involve researching a topic, planning a list of exhibits, liaising with curatorial staff inside the museum, negotiating loans from outside the museum, and sometimes raising funds for the exhibition and promoting it.

In addition exhibition officers have to be good project managers. As with documentation, exhibitions work is good solid experience for a curatorial management career.

A recent advertisement for an events and exhibitions officer called for someone who could organise and manage a programme of temporary exhibitions and events. The museum wanted someone with a year's professional experience in a museum or art gallery who was educated to degree level. The salary ranged from £17,500 to just over £19,000.
