The MA is an intensive programme, which integrates museological theory and practice. The programme has a distinctive approach, exploring objects as unique resources for developing and communicating an understanding of human life. Issues involved in interpreting and preserving collections are explored using a variety of teaching, learning and assessment approaches. Students are introduced to the theory and practice of collection interpretation, preventive care and the reality of preofessional practice. Communicating using objects is explored in theory and then in practice through a creative group project. There is an extended attachment, which provides the opportunity to undertake a defined project in a museum, gallery or historic house. Two research units lead up to the dissertation.
