These courses are recognised by the Museums Association. This means that graduates from the courses below are currently given a shorter route to the Associate Membership of the Museums Association, the AMA. However, recognition does not refer directly to the way in which the course prepares people to enter the museum workforce or to how successful students are at getting jobs in museums. The basis for recognition was that these courses had met the 'validation' standard set and assessed by an organisation called CHNTO. Please note that CHNTO no longer exists and the validation system is not currently being renewed. Since the demise of CHNTO in 2002 the Museums Association has been unable to give recognition to any additional courses. Some courses listed below are no longer running.
