Jack Kirby, Collections Interpretation Officer at Thinktank, received a Trevor Walden grant in 2006 to visit recently completed or renovated industrial galleries in four major museums to feed into the development of a new exhibitions strategy for Thinktank. Jack was awarded his AMA in 2007.

The Trevor Walden Trust

Financial help for MA members undertaking the AMA
'...to advance the education and training of museum and gallery personnel...'

Each year, the trustees announce the amount that is available to individual members (and in exceptional circumstances, groups of professionals) undertaking activities to support continuing professional development leading to the Associateship of the Museums Association (AMA).

Preference is given to those paying their own expenses rather than to those subsidised by an employer.

Last year grants were awarded for travel and accommodation costs for visits to specific collections and curators, and to buy study materials, but other activities can also be supported.

Applications will be assessed on 1 March and 1 September each year.

Any groups of professionals intending to apply should contact the MA directly, as the trustees will need to assess their eligibility on a case by case basis.
