Volunteers play a vital role in the development of museum services, including engagement with the local community.
This workshop offers approaches and tools to help you embed volunteering into the work of your museum. It will help you to identify ways in which volunteering can help you make your museum more accessible to service users.
By the end of the workshop you will be able to:
plan for volunteer involvement in the the organisation planning cycle
set objectives for volunteering, with measurable outputs and outcomes
recognise the benefits of promoting a diverse volunteer team
use practical methods to promote diversity within your volunteer programme
develop partnerships with other organisations to engage socially-excluded groups.
