Diversify: new developments

Evaluations

The MA has commissioned Hopkins van Mil: Creative Connections to undertake the next evaluation of the Diversify scheme.

We have asked them to look at the following:

  • Whether any new patterns are emerging since the previous evaluations (2004), particularly in terms of the relative benefits of bursaries and traineeships

  • The MA's success in implementing the recommendations of those evaluations

  • What further changes could be made to the scheme

  • The effectiveness of the MA's support systems for individuals and organisations

As a starting point, the consultants will examine:

  • The two training models offered by Diversify

  • Post-training workforce issues

  • Professional development opportunities

  • Networking by participants outside of the Diversify scheme

  • Support structures introduced by the MA

  • Impact of hosting a traineeship or bursary placement on host venues

The research phase of the evaluation has started in April with the final report due to be completed by the end of the summer. The report will help us put together a five year plan for Diversify to take to MA Council in the autumn.

In addition to recommendations arising from the evaluation there are some other areas the MA wishes to explore:

  • Different models of training

  • Expansion of the scheme
