Bursary students are based at a university but will normally undertake a 3-5 month Diversify placement - in addition to any placements offered by the course - in a leading regional museum or gallery. A typical bursary covers course fees and payment towards essential course expenses such as books and course-related travel. The students are also offered free MA membership and access to other MA services such as seminars, conferences and publications. To organise a bursary, based on the Diversify model, please contact the MA for further advice and guidance. Click here for full contact details at the Museums Association Click here for more about bursaries Raising awareness It is important to publicise bursaries as widely as possible and the Museums Association works with universities and potential host organisations to generate a dialogue with prospective students. When recruiting for bursaries, adverts are typically placed in The Guardian, local newspapers and Museums Journal. Adverts can also be distributed to contacts in the museum and art sectors, Racial Equality Councils, in local communities and through Connexions (the careers advisory service). The Diversify Toolkit has further suggestions about how to set up and publicise a bursary. Click here to download the Diversify Toolkit
