Disposal: have you responded yet?

The MA is currently in the process of updating its ethical advice on museum disposal. As part of this process, the MA is inviting comments from interested members. The consultation closes at the end of October...
The current guidelines were produced ten years ago, so it was felt that a review and update was needed.
Caitlin Griffiths, the MA's adviser on professional issues said: 'We know that disposal is an issue that concerns many museums. We want to make sure that the MA's advice reflects the views of the sector, and that is why we are carrying out this consultation now.
'By the end of the year it is intended that a new disposal toolkit will be published. The toolkit will bring together both practical and ethical advice on disposal, guiding museums through each stage of the process.
'We want to be able to provide guidance that encourages museums to engage more actively with disposal whilst giving them the confidence that they are doing so within a strong ethical framework.'
The consultation runs till the end of October. To contribute your views, download and complete the consultation form below and return it to Caitlin Griffiths: caitlin@museumsassociation.org
